Karol Jelonek


Karol Andrzej Jelonek Ph.D. Eng. (ORCID ID: 0000-0002-7233-7695) obtained a master’s degree in technology and chemical engineering at the Faculty of Chemistry of the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice in 2007 and a master’s degree in radiobiology at the Faculty of Oncology of University College London in Great Britain in 2008. In 2011, he obtained a doctorate in medical sciences in the field of medical biology in the Center for Translational Research and Molecular Biology of Cancer, Maria Skłodowska-Curie Memorial Cancer Center and Institute of Oncology Gliwice Branch. Then he continued his work in the Laboratory of Clinical Proteomics, dealing with clinical applications of metabolomics and proteomics with the use of mass spectrometry techniques. In 2012, he completed a three-month research internship focused on the biomedical use of mass spectrometry techniques at the Scientific Biomedical Center, Sheffield Hallam University in Great Britain. Since 2018, he has been working as an assistant professor at the Center for Translational Research and Molecular Biology of Cancer. His latest research interests concern the systemic response of the human body to ionizing radiation by detecting characteristic changes in metabolites and proteins involved in the inflammatory response using mass spectrometry techniques.
